eCAP in 2025 – integration, testing and more testing

As the year comes to a close, it’s time for one of our favourite traditions – eCAP in numbers . In 2025, we focused on integration, tests and compilation of regulatory documents to confidently move to the clinical studies.

What does that look like in numbers?

✔️ 3 device components – eCAP capsule, hub and phone – effectively integrated (Tyndall National Institute, RDS, Sentron)

✔️ 3 preclinical tests successfully completed (Institute of Image-Guided Surgery), including successful Bluetooth transmission from inside the body 

✔️ 15 – 20 eCAP capsules manufactured (Sentron, Tyndall National Institute)

✔️ 90 pages of reporting (AMIRES) and dozens of regulatory documents compiled (EnteraSense Limited, Betthera)

✔️ 31 surgical residents trained in endoscopy in Kenya (OTPAK)

✔️ 17 eCAP presentations in workshops in Ukraine (Olymed Gastro Zentrum)

Importantly, over the last 3.5 years, we have

✔️ completed and analysed hundreds of experiments and tests

✔️ welcomed 5 babies born to the members of eCAP team

2026 will bring the long-awaited culmination of the years of work in the lab:

🎯 Finalisation of regulatory documents and remaining tests

🎯 Ethics approvals and launch of clinical trials in France, Ukraine and Kenya

🎯 Demonstrating the clinical effectiveness and cost efficiency of eCAP in a health economics study
